Alexandra Mitsiou is a food creative and food stylist working with food as a medium of expression, nourishment, and conscious embodiment.
Trained as a biologist, she extended her studies to the science of cooking, got traineeship in various professional kitchens in the Netherlands, and has been working as a food stylist for international food brands. She is also a certified tantra teacher for women that allows her to work in depth with the senses and food.
Combining a scientific and a heart felt approach to food, she is interested in the interactions of our physical, emotional and energetic body with the resource.
Her attention is drawn by food textures, forms + colour palettes with the aim to demonstrate the essence of food and its relation to our senses, emotions and psyche.
She is aspiring to connect modern humans and especially women back to their bodies and to the body of the Earth through the portals of the senses using one of the most important resources we have; Food.
She invites you to pause and listen, touch and feel, taste, take in the scent and observe the changes of what we witness with the food material and those changes happening within us.
I am using food as a creative medium + a visual language to express feelings, emotions + moods.
I am creating my own reality + lifestyle settings around food; the most valuable resource and the vital resource we are utilizing every day. Food can be nourishing, food can be healing, food can bring us together and create trust and bonding. It shapes our body, our soul, our moods, our culture and society.
I am inspired by the textures of the organic matter we consume and the emotions, moods and feelings they evoke to our psyche.
I am guided by the seasons and the position of the sun - the light - the seasonal light that is changing and shifting with the seasons and guides the energy flow within us.
